At Modern ABA, we understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to make the process as easy and supportive as possible. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you know what to expect when you begin your journey with us.
1. Contact Us
- Complete the Contact Form on our website to provide us with some basic information about your child and your needs.
- Joe will reach out to you via email to acknowledge your submission and provide you with the necessary intake forms.
2. Intake Forms and Follow-Up
- Once you’ve received the intake forms, simply fill them out and send them back to us at your convenience.
- Joe will follow up with a phone call to answer any questions, address any concerns, and offer support to ensure the process is smooth and stress-free.
3. Scheduling the Intake Assessment
- After receiving the intake forms, Joe will contact you to schedule the Intake Assessment.
- This 1-hour session will take place at your home, where Joe will interact with your child and take detailed notes to gather important information for the development of their therapy plan.
4. Therapy Goals Meeting
- Following the intake assessment, Joe will meet with you (and your partner, if applicable) for a 1-hour meeting.
- Together, you will collaboratively identify therapy goals that will guide the therapy programs and ensure they are tailored to your child’s unique needs.
5. Program Development
- Joe will then write up the individualized therapy programs based on the goals set during your meeting.
- This step is billed as indirect service time at a rate of $194 per hour to ensure that your child’s program is carefully designed and well thought out.
6. Therapy Sessions and Parent Training
- One-on-one therapy sessions with your child will begin, along with parent training to equip you with the tools and strategies to support your child’s progress at home.
- If self-injurious behavior or aggression occurs, we’ll ask you to collect or provide baseline data on how often these behaviors happen. This data helps us assess treatment effectiveness and adjust as needed.
7. Ongoing Monitoring and Adjustments
- If high rates of self-injurious behavior, aggression, or escalations occur, Joe may recommend a Practical Functional Assessment combined with a skills-based treatment approach. This approach will integrate therapy goals into a more focused strategy.
- Data from therapy sessions is regularly reviewed by Joe to ensure progress is being made and adjustments are made as needed.
8. Regular Progress Meetings
- We’ll schedule fortnightly meetings (or less frequently, if preferred) to update you on your child’s progress and address any questions or concerns.
- These meetings provide a chance for you to discuss developments, troubleshoot any challenges, and ensure we’re on track to meet the therapy goals.
9. Continuous Support
- We are always available to answer questions and provide support throughout the entire process. Our goal is to ensure your family feels supported, informed, and empowered as we work together to help your child build meaningful skills and independence.
